ATM Studios Birmingham is located in a listed Victorian building in the heart of Birmingham’s music retail and recording belt. The centre is situated within walking distance of Kerrang! radio, the Sound Control music store and the Actress and Bishop live music venue.

The centre opened in 1998 and has since expanded to cater for almost 300 music students, making it the main music training venue within the Birmingham region.

The centre has developed strong links with the local music industry including Kerrang! radio, the Actress and Bishop venue and many local promoters.

ATM Studios Birmingham boasts a 24-track digital recording studio, three rehearsal rooms, a technology centre, its own dance studio as well as many multi-purpose teaching areas.

Pedal to the metal for Chrome

Ex-Creative Music Producer student Mike Walkeden has been hard at work making his mark on the industry from radio shows to his setting up his own record label, to E.P. releases and getting signed.

Working alongside some of the biggest Hip Hop stars around including Jazzy Jay, Charlie Chase and Cash Money to name but a few, ‘Phew! You could say I’ve been a busy boy’ laughs Mike Walkeden, as he reels off a list of accomplishments so far. As well as gigging and working on two radio shows for Sensie fm and Future radio he has also set up his own record label Homework Records and if that wasn’t enough he’s also signed to Son Records. His E.P. Flavour is set for release this September by Son Records.

Channel 4 appearance for Lady Leshurr
Melesha O’ggaro, also known as Lady Leshurr, from Access to Music, Birmingham has been selected in a competition to feature in a sponsorship advert for Channel 4 television series Dubplate Drama. Read More >>

Esoteric Tour
Birmingham metal band, Esoteric, performed in front of 10,000 at this years Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic. Early in the summer of 2008 they completed a two-week European tour, and played a one-offgigin Moscow, gaining some high profile media coverage including album of the month in Terrorizer Magazine and a four K review in Kerrang! Guitarist Gordon Bicknell is an ex Birmingham student. www.esotericuk.net

Birmingham students perform at Royal Albert Hall
November 2008 saw ATM students flying the flag for Birmingham alongside over 3000 students from across the country to take part in the Music for Youth Schools Proms at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. ATM's Brum students performed a special composition for band, MC and vocalists to the audience of 15,000. The evenings entertainment included orchestral works, a chamber choir, a percussion school and a tuba quartet!

Lady Leshurr takes grime world by storm
A pocket sized MC from Birmingham is taking the grime world by storm with appearances on Radio 1Xtra. Colorful State (the label behind Low Deep) have just signed her up and released her debut material titled The Last Minute in November 2008. myspace.com/ladyleshurr
