The British Academy of New Music is a
centre of musical excellence and a focal
point for music training in the capital.

The British Academy of New Music (Further Education) is a dedicated music education facility situated in the East End of London in the heart of the fast developing Olympic village. It is the FE wing of the British Academy of New Music which also incorporates a Higher Education department.
The centre offers a wide range of courses at Levels 1 to 3 for aspiring musicians from the eastern regions of London and generally from inner and greater London.
The centre has eleven rehearsal studios, two recording studios, two music technology suites, practice rooms, a dance studio and seminar rooms. It is staffed by an experienced team of musicians.
The centre offers excellent opportunities for music work-based learning within the capital. |

Ex-student signed to Roc Nation
Ex student, Rita Ora, has been signed to famous rapper Jay Z’s label, Roc Nation. With her debut album due out this summer and a big move planned to America, Rita is having a great time, she said about getting signed and working with the Jay Z: ‘It’s very busy and a lot of pressure but it’s brilliant!’. Rita, who studied on the Performing Musician course, has previously worked with Craig David and Tinchy Stryder.

Keith Harris pays a visit to BANM
Students at the London centre were visited by music expert Keith Harris. Keith has years of experience including working for Transatlantic Records, EMI Records, with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson and becoming Chairman of PPL. He engaged with the musicians at BANM discussing all aspects of the music industry and offering advice based on his experience. Craig Keane, an Apprentice said it was a ‘very useful opportunity to get solid advice and an informed opinion not only on the issues of copyright and royalties but also practical business sense in the music industry.’

The nearest stations to the ATM Studios are Bromley By Bow and Bow Road on the District and Hammersmith & City lines. The Academy is about a 10 minute walk from Bromley by Bow tube. The Studios are also accessible from the Stratford station.
