Access to Music is in partnership with Future Projects, formerly the NR5 Project, in Norwich. Future Projects is a community based registered charity working with young people and adults. It provides an open access venue that delivers services and activities including: education, leisure, media training, music studio facilities and training - ICT facilities, community radio broadcasting and training and citizenship and wider community engagement.

Future Projects is based in a purpose-built radio, music and media studios called Future Studios. This is a purpose-built environment, acoustically designed and constructed to a high specification. The studios are equipped with the very latest sound and recording technology including a Pro-Tools system. Studios A and B, as well as the control room benefit from silent air-conditioning and a high level of sound isolation from the outside world.

There are facilities to record a single vocalist right up to a small orchestra in fully professional surroundings. The studios are available for commercial hire and have all the equipment for bands and musicians just starting out to produce demos and CDs. The studios are linked to the Future Radio studios allowing live radio broadcasts of bands and musicians. Our training areas provide opportunities to learn Apple Logic and Propellorhead Reason software.

 

 

Brownies get Guardian Pick of the Week
Norwich band the Brownies, featuring ATM student Nathan Pounds on guitar, are making a name for themselves on the national music scene. Having appeared on the Steve Lamacq show, and playing at major London venues, their single Means to an End was the Guardian’s Pick of the week at the tail end of 2007. 'Going by this debut, the Brownies (who formed as part of their music course) could be Xerox Girls' attitudinal, imperiously cool nieces and nephews. Brilliantly out of step with current modish indie trends, full of heart-in-mouth moments and a hatred so finely tuned it's almost sexy, Means To An End is a handstand, a cartwheel and a kick in the nuts and it demands your immediate surrender'.

Level 1 Award. This is a 10 week part time course, 12 hour per week. The Award is a two-unit course leading to a Rockschool/ Access to Music qualification. The next course starts in October 2009.

Musicians/producers looking for full-time music courses at Levels 2 and 3 should consider appying to ATM Studios Norwich.
