Judge Jules’ top tip for 2008
Ex-Leicester student DJ Genix (AKA Damion Houchen) is tipped by Judge Jules as one to watch in 2008. Genix has been making a name for himself on the dance scene with numerous releases (including tracks signed to Ministry of Sound) and is now resident DJ at Passion nightclub in Coalville, as well as playing internationally. In 2005 he broke the then world record for the longest DJ mix ever (84 hours!). Watch out for a full interview in the spring issue of In-Sync.

DJs Tour India
Two ex-Leicester DJs are off on the trip of a life time after securing gigs in India, playing with some of the top names in Indian dance music, including The Bandish Project and Nasha. DJs Nick Hutchins (AKA minus-6) and Dharmesh Solanki (AKA Mr Manali) will be playing to thousands on the 11-date tour, which kicks off on February 29, in Mumbai.

Leicester College in Phoenix Theatre Send Off
To mark the end of an era for Leicester’s Phoenix theatre ATM students and tutors took part in The Works Outing. With the arrival of the new Haymarket Theatre in Leicester’s cultural quarter, the Phoenix, which has been a longstanding live arts venue, will change to cinema only. ATM tutor John Meredith was commissioned to compose a 44-minute piece of music for the event; one minute for each year of the venue's existence, using sounds from the building itself. The weekend event included performances, workshops and masterclass from some of the leading lights in music, dance and digital film.
New Mac suite for students

Katie Skilling
She counts Sandi Thom and Jennifer Saunders amongst her growing legion of fans and has already caught the attention of A&R at major labels. Singer-songwriter Katie Skilling has been gigging extensively on the London acoustic scene and is managed by Diane Young (BB Macks former manager). Watch out for her debut EP soon.
