Student wins regional radio competition
Loz Tinsley, a student from Yorkshire Coast College has won a regional competition for a prestigious Road Safety radio campaign! The competition invited students from across the region to write an advert to promote aspects of road safety. It is part of a wider initiative run by The 95 Alive York and North Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership to increase road safety awareness.
Two other Yorkshire Coast College students, Hayley Jacobs and Jake Boyce also reached the final. All three study on the Creative Music Producer course. As well as a cash prize, Loz will have her advert aired on professional radio stations across the North of England.
Students organise charity gig!
Students on the Performing Musician course recently organised a charity gig in aid of St. Catherine’s Hospice which took place at The Cask.
The evening included performances from Everyone an Army, Alice and the Wonderband, Codie Rylatt, Blame Eddie, Circus Party and Ode to Bobbie. The students organised this in response to a ‘Making a contribution’ module. Click here for more photos.
Top Music Producer visits students
Influential music producer Steve Harris, recently visited students at Yorkshire Coast College to talk about his experiences in the music industry.
Steve Harris, who has worked with a number of big names in the industry including Kula Shakur, U2 and the Kaiser Chiefs, talked about his early career and the students an insight into the reality of working in the music industry.
Afterwards, students were given the opportunity to ask questions to the producer.
