Audio/PRODUCTION ENGINEER: OVERVIEW
 
 

By doing the Audio/Production Engineer course you will:

  • Learn how to use music technology.
  • Learn how to engineer a recording session.
  • Learn about live sound engineering and PA set up.
  • Mix live sound in pro venues.
  • Find out about microphones and their placement.
  • Understand how to use recording and live desks.
  • Get to grips with using effects.
  • Learn all about using DAWs.
  • Gain mixing, production and mastering skills.
  • Remix recordings.
  • Gain practical experience in technical event production.
  • Get access to regional and national music opportunities (participating centres only).
  • Find out how to set up and market a business.
  • Gain a recognised and industry-relevant qualification. Courses lead to Rockschool/ATM Diplomas at Levels 1 and 2 (GCSE equivalent) and Level 3 (A Level equivalent). Level 1 and 2 Diplomas generate 48 ten-hour credits. The two-year Level 3 Diploma generates 96 ten-hour credits. Qualifications are unit-based and assessment is focused on practical music-making activities.
  • Gain access to Higher Education popular music and music technology courses (Level 3 only).

Other unique benefits:

  • Unlike many other specialist music courses, our FE provision offers free tuition for 16-19 year olds and for those on benefits and those undertaking a first Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. Courses are heavily subsidised for others. Check out FEES for more info.
  • Again unlike other music courses, such as BTECs, our courses require no formal academic qualifications to gain entry. We are interested in your musical potential and we are committed to offering true access to music!
