By doing the Session Musician course you will:

• Develop your instrumental or vocal skills to the highest level through intensive rehearsal and application.
• Undertake instrumental grades (up to grade 8) as a bolt on option.
• Develop your wider musicianship skills.
• Improve your understanding and interpretation of songs by application of music theory and notation.
• Gain skills in practical performance in both live and recording situations. Access to Music works in partnership with Atom Live, a professional event production company which organises gigs, tours and festivals throughout the UK.
• Work in a session and tribute musician capacity with a variety of artists and contexts.
• Understand the changing nature and structure of the UK music industry.
• Gain an understanding of the business of music including contracts and self-employment requirements.
• Gain a recognised and industry-relevant qualification. The two-year Level 3 Diploma generates 96 ten-hour credits. Qualifications are unit-based and assessment is focused on practical music-making activities.
• Gain access to Higher Education popular music courses.

Other unique benefits:

• Unlike many other specialist music courses, our FE provision offers free tuition for 16-19 year olds and for those on benefits and those undertaking a first Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. Courses are heavily subsidised for others. Check out FEES for more info.
