Length:        1 year (36 weeks)

If you are an aspiring music artist then this course is the perfect option for musicians and producers not wanting to undertake a full degree, but instead gain practical career development skills. Entry to this course can be from the age of 17. The course is:

  • Ideal for those who want to take their music and brand to the next level in preparation for professional work.
  • Based around an in-house record label which then works with each act to develop their potential.
  • Focused on providing advice and guidance on how to refine and improve your music and brand in a professional environment.
  • Linked to business, allowing you to map out your future career. Creative industries in the UK are out-performing almost all other areas of the UK economy and now support over 1.7 million jobs.
  • Taught by artist and music industry specialists. Assessed via project work, rather than exams, leading to a nationally-recognised RSL qualification.
  • Designed to give you more than music - you will also gain valuable job skills and life skills.
  • Graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted.


You will work under the close guidance of highly-experienced teams of musicians, industry professionals and creatives who will support you as you begin to explore and investigate your work and its potential.

The courses is taught by musicians at Birmingham, Bristol, Lincoln, London (Stratford), Manchester, Norwich and York.

Access to Music Birmingham is located at Heath Mill Studios in the heart of the city’s creative quarter in Digbeth. The college caters for music students from across the West Midlands.

Access to Music Bristol is our centre covering Bristol, Bath and the South West. The college is located to the south east of the city centre in a professional rehearsal and recording studio.
