PLAY SAFE WEEK
3-7 November 2008
Play safe now - play for life!

Supported by the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine, Audio Relief, the RNID, the British Tinnitus Association and now Advanced Communication Solutions, Play Safe Week is a national campaign to raise awareness of health and safety issues related to musicians.

This year’s focus and theme again is hearing protection together with manual handling for musicians. Resources and information packs, including the LSC Be Safe Guide and workbook will be available to centres together with a poster campaign and competition. Guest speakers from the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine, Audio Relief and Advanced Communication Solutions can also be arranged.

A new hard-hitting DVD called ‘Sound Advice’ will be available. This features Wurzel (Motorhead), Paul Gray (The Damned, UFO), DJ JFK, Chris Holland & Dave Swift (Jools Holland), Aqualung, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly together with other industry professionals addressing issues on hearing protection and hearing loss suffered by musicians.

Advice and guidance will also be available from Access to Music’s health & safety advisors – safety@accesstomusic.co.uk.

Play Safe Week will end at Music Live on Friday 7th at the NEC with special features as part of the new Access to Music Get Experienced Festival Tent in the main exhibition hall.
