AWARDS CEREMONY 2007

MERMAID CENTRE
BLACKFRIARS
LONDON
WEDNESDAY 5 DECEMBER 2007

Access to Music's Award Ceremony is the glitziest and best student music awards night out in the country.

Student achievement for the year 2006/07 was celebrated at this established event, formerly held at BAFTA, Piccadilly, and now resident at the fantastic Mermaid Centre with its 600 capacity auditorium.

Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman once again presented the Awards Ceremony and had this to say on her show the following day:

'After the show yesterday I pegged down to this really lovely little place called the Mermaid Theatre, down on the river, to host the Access to Music Awards.

'I’ve done it for the last three or four years and it’s always a brilliant afternoon. Congratulations to everyone who picked up awards last night and we also got some performances from people who have been involved.

'James Morrison was involved in Access to Music before he hit the big time, so it’s a good place to look out for up-and-coming talent. The performances yesterday were incredible and if you’re up for exploring and finding new music you should check out the myspace pages of this lot.

'There's a guy called Chrome, who looks like a British Eminem. He’s amazing, he was brilliant! So Chrome, well done for your performance, it was my favourite from yesterday.

'There was a band from Birmingham fronted by Jodi Lawrence with blond hair who’s got so much attitude it’s amazing. Mista as well. Also Gaby Ridgeon who performed on a piano: that was really quite special. Plus Iain Lowery and Ami Richardson.

'So well done to everyone yesterday and congratulations to all those who picked up awards. Look out for those people: you never know they might be big stars of the future!'

Thanks to Edith for all her support and a big well done to the students who were awarded prizes and a big thank you to all the artists for their fantastic performances.

Check out the music of Lowery on our Music Site.
