Saturday morning rockschool launches in Birmingham! (Sat 28 Jan 2012)

Many young people start out learning an instrument but give up before they really get started. Why? One of the main reasons given is the lack of other people to practice with. That or the neighbours banging on the wall threatening a court injunction!

Musicians are meant to play together and from that comes not only great music but lots of fun and lots of learning. If you're a young drummer, bass or keyboard player, guitarist or vocalist you'll know what we're talking about. Playing chords or bashing away on the kit in the bedroom is fun but it hardly rocks!

Well from now on Saturday mornings are changing for the young musicians of Birmingham and the West Midlands. Saturday morning is going to be a time when you can wake up, shake off the cobwebs and ROCK! Play UP is a new club running from Heath Mill Studios in Digbeth which gives young musicians the chance to get together, form bands and create and record songs in professional rehearsal rooms and recording studios. Sounds better than learning an E chord in the bedroom. You bet!

Play UP comes in two forms. A Junior Session for 8-12 year olds from 9am - 10am and a Senior Session for 13-18s from 10.30 to 1pm. Costs are just £43 for 5 sessions for Juniors and £82 for 5 sessions for the Seniors. Discounts are available. Play UP is run by Access to Music, the UK's leading popular music college who have over 20 years experience in popular music education.
