UK Music Student Awards - 17th May 2012 (Thu 08 Mar 2012)

This year’s UK Music Student Awards will be hosted by Liverpool Sound City at the Echo Arena on 17th May. Launched by George Martin, the awards are in collaboration with Access To Music and are hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Edith Bowman (pictured left). For 8 years this unique event has celebrated, identified and supported new talent within music education and affirms Access To Music’s position as the link between the industry and music education. The awards give the stars of tomorrow an amazing opportunity to shine today with recognition directly from the music industry.

All the awards are judged and presented by highly respected industry professionals, this year’s categories are as follows:

  • Best Female Artist
  • Best Male Artist
  • Best Producer
  • Best Media Music - The Michael Kamen Award
  • Best Acheivement
  • Best Employability Success
  • Best Student Award
  • Best Single
  • Best Remix
  • Best Live Act
  • Best DJ
  • Best Artist Marketing Campaign
  • Best Business
  • Best A & R Strategy and Campaign
  • Culture Shake Equality and Diversity Award

Access To Music students will be travelling from centres across the country to attend Liverpool Sound City and take part in the awards ceremony thanks to a range of subsidised travel and accommodation packages. Student bands and performers will also be taking to the stage on 18th May in the ATOM Live national showcase – the culmination of 9 regional auditions, which will see acts fight it out for a place on a 12 date national tour, complete with 18-berth tour bus!

Liverpool Sound City is a 3 day international music, media and technology conference and live arts and music festival. Acclaimed for its bold and innovative programming and forward thinking conference, Liverpool Sound City is focused on the zeitgeist and looking forward, intent on bringing the best new music, film, art and more from all over the world to Liverpool. This year’s line up includes Professor Green, White Denim and Death In Vegas.
