FEES: Further Education
& TEACHER TRAINING courses

Access to Music offers some of the most cost-effective specialist music training in the UK. Our courses are generally much cheaper than other specialist music provision. This is because we are funded by the Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA) or Skills Funding Agency (SFA), we further subsidise tuition costs and we don't charge our students high course materials fees.

The following are the fees for full-time Further Education courses for the academic year starting in September 2009. Students from outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or those that have not been resident within the EU/EEA for the 3 years preceeding the start of the course, should click on the International section.

Please note these fees are for Access to Music Centres. Partner and Associate Centres will charge different fees. Please check their websites for details.

ENROLMENT FEE 2010-11

This fee is to pay for your registration with Rockschool (the qualification awarding body) and with Edexcel for your Functional Skills. It also covers some of our administration costs relating to enrolling you. It is:

  • FREE if you are a European Union (EU) resident aged 16 -18 on 31 August 2010.
  • £50 if you are aged 19 or over on this date.

This is a yearly payment. This fee must be paid in full with the return of your completed Enrolment Form.

TUITION FEES 2010-11

Most Access to Music courses are funded by the Learning & Skills Council. They are:

  • FREE if you are an EU resident aged 16-18 on 31 August 2010;
  • FREE if you are aged 19 or over on 31 August 2010 and in receipt of benefits;
  • FREE if you are an unwaged dependent of someone who is receiving benefits;
    You will have to provide proof of receipt of benefit and fill in a tuition fee exception form prior to enrolment.
  • FREE if you are 19 and over, enrolling and intending to complete a first full level 2 or level 3 qualification and have never achieved a level 2 qualification or higher before.

For further questions regarding clarification about your entitlement and fee remission, please contact the Admissions Team free on 0800 281 842.

If you are an EU resident aged 19 or over on 31 August 2009 and not in receipt of benefits, you will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of your tuition. This will vary depending on the provider. At ATM centres the contribution is £695*: this amount is still heavily subsidised.

* Students who are progressing onto their secondyear of the level 3 course with Access to Music will only pay £674.

LEVEL 3 COURSES

For students enrolling on a two-year Level 3 course, the tuition fee will remain fixed at the same rate as that in year one for both years of study. Please note that this fee is to be paid on an annual basis.

If you are entitled to tuition fee remission (on a qualification basis or under 19) in year one of a two-year Level 3 course, you will automatically be entitled for year two. Those in receipt of benefits in year one MUST provide proof for year two otherwise you will pay full fees for your second year.

MUSIC EDUCATOR TEACHER TRAINING

For the Level 3 Music Educator course at ATM centres, students have to pay £415 which includes enrolment, tuition ISA (mandatory Independent Safeguarding Authority) check and a CRB check.

If you are in receipt of benefits, the cost of the Music Educator will total £114 (Enrolment, ISA check plus CRB check).

There is an additional cost for the PTTLS (£60) and CTTLS (£100). Please note that if you intend to continue with your training, we recommend you opt for the CTTLS as it includes the PTTLS within it. If you just opt for the PTTLS, you will have to pay an additional £100 in the future for the CTTLS.
